From the Principal

I must honestly say that in all my years as a Principal I have never encountered such a calm start to a school year; a big thank you to all our staff and students, wonderful to work with! It feels great that we can welcome every student to school every morning with a handshake and warm smile, not only from us but from them too. Our new kitchen is definitely producing food that everyone here appreciates; salad-bar, meat/fish, vegetarian and soup courses for everyone everyday, and still the sparkling water is a hit with the students.

Our House system seems to be attracting a lot of attention from students, especially those wanting to win the Grand Prize in June 2019, a whole day at Liseberg with their Mentors, and of course Principal. A lot of suggestions for competitions have been put forward by the Student Council and we hope to start the sports events very soon. Our Club system is up and running with even more starting in week 45. Look at the information Tv for further details.

Our IES Johanneberg Radio presentation went well yesterday. We addressed the entire school and informed everyone about the different events happening before our Autumn Break. Emily, from 8B, delivered an outstanding presentation of the Student Council and must be commended on her extremely well executed performance; not easy talking to 600 people via a public address system.

The students in 9B have offered to start up our Café and raise funds for a school trip. Again, a wonderful idea that we will all try to implement as soon as we can.

As we fast approach the Autumn Break year 8 must not forget that they will be on PRAO week 48. Most students have found work placements but some are still struggling. If any parents have ideas/contacts or suggestions for places please contact the school as soon as possible.

Our PTA will hold its annual general meeting on 23 October at 18:00, Krokslätt IES, in the restaurant. All parents are more than welcome to attend; please bring lots of energy and new ideas!

Many students will be sitting their IGCSE English exams next week, we wish them all luck. We hope that all their hard study will pay off.
